Four world-class Vermont mountains, all 30mins drive away from Otherland

Ski Mountains Near Otherland

Otherland Hotel sits in the heart of some of New England's finest ski country. Southern Vermont's mountain resorts are renowned for their varied terrain, reliable snowmaking, and classic Vermont atmosphere — and several of the best are just a short drive up Route 30. Whether you're after wide groomed cruisers, challenging black diamonds, a laid-back local mountain, or a full destination resort, you'll find it nearby.

Mount Snow

~30 min drive from Otherland

1,700 ft Vertical Drop

601 Skiable Acres, 86 Trails, 19 Lifts

Best for All Levels

Vermont's southernmost big mountain and the closest major resort to Otherland, Mount Snow is the easy choice for a day on the slopes. With 601 skiable acres, 86 trails, and 19 lifts — including a heated six-passenger bubble chair to the 3,600-foot summit — it has everything from wide beginner runs to a dedicated expert face. Snowboarders flock to Carinthia, a 100-acre dedicated terrain park zone widely regarded as the best in the East. The resort's powerful snowmaking system keeps conditions reliable from late November through mid-April. Part of the Vail Resorts Epic Pass network.

Stratton Mountain

~30 min drive from Otherland

2003 ft Vertical Drop

670 Skiable Acres, 99 Trails, 132 Lifts

Best for Intermediate–Expert

Southern Vermont's highest peak at 3,875 feet, Stratton is a full-service mountain resort with 670 acres of terrain across 99 trails. The mountain is well-suited to intermediate and advanced skiers, with long, flowing cruisers, challenging glades, and a scenic gondola providing quick access to the summit. Stratton has a rich snowboarding heritage — it was the first resort in Vermont to allow snowboarders on its slopes in 1983 — and hosts the prestigious U.S. Open Snowboarding Championships each March. An alpine village at the base adds restaurants, shops, and après-ski atmosphere. Part of the Alterra Mountain Ikon Pass network.

Magic Mountain

~30 min drive from Otherland

1500 ft Vertical Drop

205 Skiable Acres, 39 Trails, 6 Lifts

Best for Families & Beginners

A beloved Vermont original with a fiercely loyal following, Magic Mountain is the antidote to the big-resort experience. Founded in 1960 by Swiss ski instructor Hans Thorner — whose goal was to recreate the feel of the Alps he grew up in — Magic has retained its classic, unpolished character and challenging terrain. The trails are narrow, wooded, and genuinely steep; this is a mountain that rewards confident skiers. With no corporate ownership, shorter lift lines, and a genuine community atmosphere, Magic offers something the larger resorts simply can't replicate. Ideal for experienced skiers looking for character over convenience.

Bromley Mountain

~40 min drive from Otherland

1334 ft Vertical Drop

178 Skiable Acres, 47 Trails, 9 Lifts

Best for Families & Beginners

Bromley is one of New England's most family-friendly ski mountains, known for its sunny south-facing slopes, relaxed pace, and welcoming atmosphere. Founded in 1936, it's among the oldest ski resorts in Vermont and has perfected the art of a comfortable, low-pressure day on the hill. The south-facing aspect means warmer temperatures and softer snow on sunny days — a real pleasure in late season. With 47 trails, good beginner terrain, and a strong ski school, Bromley is the ideal choice for families with younger children or those newer to the sport. Located just minutes from Manchester Center's outlet shopping for an easy after-ski stop.

PLANNING YOUR SKI DAY

Purchase lift tickets in advance online for the best prices — walk-up window rates are significantly higher. All four mountains offer ski and snowboard rentals at the base lodge. For lessons, book ahead online especially on weekends. Early starts (on-mountain by 8:30am) mean shorter lift lines and the best snow. Our concierge team is happy to help with directions, lift ticket advice, and local tips.
